Navy Physical Readiness Test (PRT) Calculator
Calculate your official U.S. Navy PRT score based on push-ups, forearm plank, and the 1.5-mile run.
The Navy PRT
The United States Navy Physical Readiness Test (PRT) evaluates a sailor's aerobic capacity, muscular endurance, and core strength. The test is administered semi-annually.
The Events
The standard PRT consists of three mandatory events:
- Push-ups: Maximum number completed in 2 minutes. Tests upper body muscular endurance.
- Forearm Plank: Maximum time held. Replaced curl-ups to better test core strength and reduce spinal injuries.
- 1.5-Mile Run: Tests cardiovascular endurance. (Alternative cardio options like swimming or stationary biking exist but are not scored here).
Scoring Categories
Scores are divided into five performance categories: Outstanding, Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, and Probationary. You must achieve at least a "Probationary" score in every single event, and an overall average of "Satisfactory" to pass.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I fail the PRT?
Failing the PRT can lead to administrative action, enrollment in a mandatory fitness enhancement program (FEP), and denial of advancement or reenlistment. These are estimates and may not reflect actual values. Always verify important calculations independently.
