Converting Pan Sizes

If a recipe calls for an 8-inch round pan but you only have a 9x13 rectangular pan, you can't just guess the batter amounts. You must calculate the surface area of both pans to find the correct multiplier.

Common Pan Areas

  • 8-inch round: ~50 sq in
  • 9-inch round: ~64 sq in
